Charly’s Vegan Tacos: Mexican Cuisine

Tulum, Mexico

March 2017

Charly’s Vegan Tacos was recommended by our Airbnb host as the best place to get vegan tacos in Tulum! She was NOT lying.

Charly’s Vegan Tacos is an authentic Mexican restaurant in Tulum that adds a healthy vegan twist to the dishes. Charly decided to create a concept of Mexican cuisine after learning about the damage that eating meat can cause to personal health and the environment. Go, Charly!

This place promotes a healthy lifestyle, free of violence and in harmony with nature, which I support 150%!

“The morality of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated”

We decided on Charly’s Signature Tacos which consisted of 3 different fillings:  porkless cracklings in red chipotle sauce, slow roasted smokey portobello, and grilled seitan steak with sauerkraut and chipotle leek cream. These tacos made me so happy! The pigs are even happier!  My favorite taco was the grilled seitan steak tacos because of the slight crunch, taste, and texture.

We also got the Nachos Machos which had spicy chipotle leek cheese, homemade pickled jalapeños, salsa “adobada,” mashed organic beans, Charly’s signature cream, guacamole, and grilled mushrooms. The portion is huge and also HUGE in flavor! I’m drooling thinking about it again.

Charly’s Vegan Tacos also had a pickled bar which offered sour cabbage, garlic/tomato/serano, habanero/onion, pickles, banana peppers, pickled veggies, green salsa, mango/jalapeno, habanero and a peanut sauce. I love pickled everything so this bar was fun to try.

This is one place you do NOT want to miss out on! Support Charly, support the animals, and support the earth.  I would go back just for their Nachos and Tacos, alone!
